Blake St Cafe

Another week another foodie post, Hooray!!!!!
Well its nothing that great actually. Going out for breakie or branch have become part of our weekly routine now after my new housemates have move in. Most of the time Wei Sin, Sam and myself will wake up early in the morning to buy our vegies and fruits in the weekend market in Subiaco for the week. After getting the necessity, we will usually head out to find something to fill our stomach be it western or eastern food. Last two weeks we have been eating western and were quite happy with it. The week before was Coode St Cafe and this time it is Blake St Cafe in North Perth.
This restaurant was introduce to me by Ying Yee and she told me the Moroccan lamb slow cooked with herbs were good. So I decided to give it a try and called Tiong Hoe along with us. When we arrive it was actually pretty pack, but what I did not expect was that TH being such smart ass this time have actually book a table for us before hand!!!! What a surprise!!! Or else we might have to stand and wait for a sit.
The service is quick and friendly. We are starving and we ordered the food without much hesitation. All of our food arrive pretty fast and coffee were actually not bad. I ordered my Soy Mocha and I have to say it taste pretty nice. When our food arrive we dig right in. I ordered the Moroccan lamb as mention and I can't remember what is the name for it (Sha Shuku I think), Sam ordered the full monty, Wei Sin ordered the same one but with Moroccan sausage in it instead and TH ordered some sandwich. Our herbs with lamb and sausage are actually pretty good. It comes with some bread and butter for us to eat it with the Sha Shuku and on top of the pan it has two eggs as well. I have to say I love the eggs cause it is cooked just as the way I like it....Creamy yoke not runny.....Nice.......
Sam was abit disappointed with his cause apparently the potatoes are overcooked in the fryer and it ends up being really hard and dry. His scramble eggs on the other hand is a tat bit too salty and the sausages too oily. TH didn't make much comment about his sandwich so I guess its pretty alrite.
After finishing our food we were sitting there comfortably chating. That morning was so darn cold...........and it feels nice n warm inside the restaurant while sipping our coffee. To my horror I found out something that really turns me off.............When I was looking around the the cafe I saw the lady making the coffee......and then..........she left the steamer unwipe........when I saw the steamer it was thick with milk scum on it....................ggeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.................this come to me as a surprise as people who are able make a decent cup of coffee are pretty fussy with the hygiene of the machine knows better to give the steamer a wipe each time it is use and that lady apparently don't care about that.......
I won't say this place is totally a bad experience but I might not go there anytime soon cause its not that near my place and it is not that good to get me coming again anytime sooner. But I would say give it a try if you want to try something different cause it serves something rather unusual from the other cafes who serve breakie.
